September is Urology Awareness Month, a national campaign dedicated to encouraging open conversations about urological health, raising awareness of common conditions and treatments that are available.
Parkside Suite’s specialist urology consultants work at Frimley Park and Wexham Park. They provide expert diagnosis, treatment and support for a wide range of urological conditions affecting men and women.
If you have a query or concern about a condition not listed below please contact us using the details at the end of this article.
Common urological conditions
Many urological conditions can have a significant impact on quality of life, yet people often delay seeking help due to embarrassment, uncertainty about symptoms, or the belief that their condition is simply a normal part of ageing.
Common symptoms that should not be ignored include:
- Frequent urination, particularly at night
- Difficulty starting or maintaining urine flow
- Urgency or leakage of urine
- Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Blood in the urine
- Kidney or bladder pain
- Changes in bladder habits.
Early assessment can help patients to access appropriate treatment options sooner.
Men's urological treatments
Enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), is one of the most common urological conditions affecting men as they get older. Symptoms can include increased urinary frequency, urgency, weak urine flow, and difficulty emptying the bladder.
Our specialists offer comprehensive assessment and a range of treatment options tailored to individual needs, helping patients regain confidence and improve their day-to-day quality of life. We also provide specialist expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer and other complex urological conditions.
Women's bladder health and treatment
Bladder problems are very common in women. Symptoms, including recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), urgency to pee, an overactive bladder and urinary incontinence can have a considerable impact on physical wellbeing, confidence and daily activities.
Many women suffer in silence unaware that effective treatment and specialist support is available. Our expert consultants can investigate symptoms, identify the condition and develop a personalised treatment plan to improve bladder health and quality of life.
Leading experts in kidney cancer care
Parkside Suite works alongside specialist kidney cancer surgeons from the Renal Cancer Centre at Frimley Park hospital, including Mr Neil Barber, Mr Manar Malki, Mr Muddassar Hussain and Mr Abhishek Reekhaye.
Kidney tumours are increasingly detected incidentally on scans performed for other reasons. Treatment is tailored to the individual patient and the characteristics of their tumour, with options ranging from surveillance in selected cases through to surgery. Where surgery is required, the team has extensive experience in robotic-assisted kidney surgery, including partial nephrectomy, which aims to remove the tumour while preserving as much healthy kidney as possible. Minimally invasive robotic techniques can also help suitable patients recover more quickly and reduce their length of hospital stay.
