Dr Shannon graduated with Honours from the Queen’s University Belfast, after being awarded several undergraduate prizes. She began her cardiology training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where she also undertook clinical research and was awarded an MD. She was subsequently awarded a highly prestigious interventional fellowship in Milan, under the mentorship of Dr Antonio Colombo who is a world authority in the field. During this she gained unrivalled experience in both coronary and structural intervention including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). She returned from Milan to complete her interventional training at Imperial College London, at both the Hammersmith and St Mary’s Hospitals.

Dr Shannon has been a substantive Consultant at Frimley Park Hospital since 2012. She has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of ischaemic heart disease, specifically coronary angioplasty and stenting for both stable angina and acute coronary syndromes.. She also has expertise in structural heart disease, specifically TAVI for patients with aortic stenosis who are not suitable for open heart surgery. Dr Shannon set up and is the cross-site lead for the TAVI programme at Frimley Health. She is an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Brompton Hospital where she regularly performs these procedures as part of the Royal Brompton and Harefield Trust Structural Heart Team.
